Editors, journalists and communications personnel from around the Pacific region recently completed a week-long course on the rolling out of refresher courses in journalism.
Facilitated and organised by the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s International Development unit, the meeting saw media industry leaders from Samoa, Niue, Tuvalu, Nauru and Fiji discuss and get trained in how to help working journalists upskill themselves.
Participants received certification to carry out the training at the completion of the course. For Fiji, reps from Communications Fiji Limited, Fiji Sun, Fiji Times, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, Fiji Television and Mai TV were present.
Trainers included veteran journalist and PACMAS lead Rita Narayan, Peta Bulsara and Caroline Winter from ABCID.
