Tropical Cyclone Rae at Category 1, is expected to intensify into a severe tropical cyclone by tomorrow evening.
At 9pm tonight, TC Rae was 50km south to south east of Matuku or about 140km West Northwest of Ono i Lau.
As such, the Fiji Meteorological Service has placed a hurricane warning for the Moala group, a storm warning is in force for the Vanua Balavu, Tuvuca, Lakeba, Moce, Cicia, Mago, Yacata, Katafaga, Oneata, Namuka i Lau, Kabara, Vatoa, Fulaga, Nairai and Gau.
“A gale warning remains in force for the eastern parts of Vanua Levu, Cakaudrove, eastern Macuata, and Southern Bua, Cikobia, Naqelelevu, Taveuni, Koro, Ovalau and Ono i Lau.”
“A strong wind warning remains in force for the rest of Vanua Levu, Northeastern parts of Viti Levu from Tailevu to Rakiraki up to Tavua, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.”
For the rest of Fiji, a heavy rain warning remains.
