Sexual offenses numbers released; Youngest victim at 3 years old, youngest offender 12

The youngest victim of rape in Fiji in 2024 was 3 years old with the offender being her 30 year old uncle andthe youngest offender is a 12 year old who raped his 7 year old cousin.

The alarming statistics were contained in the latest figures contained in a statement released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions today.

“250 people were charged with a total of 651 counts of sexual offenses. Of the 250 accused, 3 were female, 26 were juveniles and 4 were Police officers.”

Offenses were: Rape (435), attempted rape (16), aiding and abetting rape (7), assault with intent to rape (2), indecent assault (44), incest by relative (2), defilement (8), sexual assault (136).

“There were 242 victims of whom 153 victims were under the age of 18 years. Of the 242
victims, 224 were females and 18 were male victims. 146 offences occurred in domestic relationships or where the accused was known to the victims.”


The youngest accused person was a 12-year-old boy who was charged with the rape of a 7-
year-old girl while the youngest victim was a 3-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her
30-year-old uncle.
