Fiji’s Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has lodged a complaint with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) against its reinstated Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Christopher Pryde, citing alleged financial irregularities and misuse of funds.
The allegations include unauthorised gratuity payments from 2013 to 2018, excess gratuity received in 2023, payment of life insurance instead of superannuation, and the use of work funds for family travel outside the terms of his contract.
Acting DPP Nancy Tikoisuva said the complaint was lodged following a review of Pryde’s files after his reinstatement.
“Several inconsistencies came to light, and as part of the ODPP Whistle Blowing Policy, a complaint was lodged with FICAC,” she said in a statement.
FICAC has since executed a search warrant at the ODPP as part of its investigation. The ODPP confirmed it would cooperate fully.
According to the statement, Pryde has also been informed of the complaint.
Pryde was reinstated by the president’s orders after a tribunal cleared him of “misbehaviour.” He told the media he would resume duties next Monday.
