Exciting Matches Ahead for Fijian Drua Women in 2025

November 20, 2024

The Fijian Drua Women will host two key matches in Fiji during the 2025 Super Rugby Women’s season, with the possibility of a semi-final at home if they finish in the top two.

The 2025 season will also feature the inaugural Super Rugby Champions final, where the winners of Super Rugby W will face the champions of New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aupiki.

The Drua’s campaign will kick off on 28 February against the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. The team will then return to Fiji for their first home fixture on March 8, taking on the Reds at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This match will take place as part of an exciting doubleheader, with the Drua Men facing the Chiefs later that afternoon. The match kicks off at 1.05pm local time, with the men’s game following at 3:30.

A week later, on March 15, the Drua Women will host the Brumbies in a standalone match, again at Churchill Park, with a 3:30 kick-off.

The Drua’s regular-season campaign will conclude on March 23 with an away match against the Western Force at HBF Park in Perth. The Super Rugby W semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of April 5, with the top two ranked teams hosting, and the Grand Final will take place on April 12. A historic crossover final between the Super Rugby Women’s and Super Rugby Aupiki champions will follow on April 17.

Fijian Drua CEO Mark Evans is eager to build on the team’s recent successes, having won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023 and finished as runners-up in 2024.

“We’re in a rebuilding phase for our Women’s programme this year,” Evans said. “We’ve got a new Interim Head Coach focused on building more depth and a bigger pool of players. We’ve also made significant investments in facilities during the off-season, ensuring the team has the best possible preparation for 2025.”

Evans was also excited about the home fixtures, particularly the match on International Women’s Day.

“Hosting two matches in Fiji in 2025 is great for our fans, who will no doubt be ready to roar for their Drua both at the double-header and the standalone matches. Having the Drua Women take the field on International Women’s Day is particularly exciting for us and we are already planning on making that day a special experience for our fans.”
