Sea and Human Security tops list for UNITAR Nadi workshop

A workshop and study tour aimed at helping leaders from the private and public sector understand sea and human security will get underway in Nadi next week.

Organised by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will aim to better equip participants in their knowledge in ensuring peace and security in the Pacific.

In a statement, UNITAR said the workshop will have over 70 participating in the 10 day workshop.

“The Leaders for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific programme, which is supported by the Government
and People of Japan, aims to provide leaders and officials from the public and private sectors in
the Asia-Pacific with the skills, knowledge and capacity to enhance climate, social, economic, food
and maritime security and to establish a coordination mechanism across the region.”

“The in-person workshop also serves as a platform for participants to share knowledge, foster
regional cooperation and enhance the capacity to address contemporary security challenges.”

Participants will enhance their knowledge on sea and human security and strengthen their
leadership and teamwork skills through mentoring support from sea and human security experts,
the study tours and interactive group activities.
