We Want to Retain Pacific Nations Cup: Ikanivere

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians will work to retain the Pacific Nations Cup and captain Tevita Ikanivere says the team, without most of the senior players with the likes of Waisea Nayacalevu and Semi Radradra amongst others, knows what is at stake.

“One of the things we will discuss when we march into camp is how we will work to keep the Pacific Nations Cup with us, we won it last year and we don’t want to lose it.”

“That’s what we will be focusing on heading into this tournament, bringing the PNC title back to Fiji.”

Ikanivere also said that he was confident of getting the support in his captaincy role from the senior members of the team.

“We have players in the team who have played in 2-3 World Cup tournaments and I value their experience, we’ve got Albert Tuisue, Eroni Mawi, Peni Ravai, Meli Derenalagi and I am looking forward to them helping me guide this team.”

The national side march into camp this weekend in Suva and play against Manu Samoa at the HFC Bank National Stadium in Suva on Friday 23rd of August, a day before the finals of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Deans Trophy competition on Saturday.
