A Fijian man who went overboard from an inter-island ferry in the Cook Islands is feared dead, according to local media reports.
Cook Islands News reported that the 22-year-old they identified as Luke, a crew member of the Lady Moana, was travelling from Mangaia to Rarotonga when he reportedly fell overboard on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Local authorities searched for nine hours on Monday, and yesterday’s search also yielded no results, leading to little hope of finding the man alive. It is understood that the police are currently assessing the situation and will make a decision on their next steps.
Investigators are also looking into the boy’s behaviour, movements, and the situation surrounding the incident.
