Setareki Hughes won the Player of the Match award after Fiji’s gallant outing against Samoa in the second round of the OFC Men’s Nations Cup at the HFC Bank National Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Hughes scored 2 goals in Fiji’s 9 goals drubbing to Samoa’s 1 goal last night earning the Digicel Bula Boys a semi final spot in Vanuatu.
At the start of the game players walked onto the field with their children and siblings each and Hughes says walking with his daughter was all the inspiration he needed to give his best on the field.
“I wanted to play the best football for my family and the fans of Fiji soccer who have always supported us.”
They play Tahiti in their final group stage game on Saturday night where it will be decided whether they play New Zealand or Vanuatu in the semi finals.
The game kicks off at 7pm.
