Forum Set to Revolutionise the Future of Vocational Education and Training

May 22, 2024

The Fiji National University (FNU) National TVET Forum will convene industry leaders, educators, policymakers, students, and other stakeholders to enhance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Fiji.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba anticipates collaboration with the coalition government and stakeholders for TVET’s future.

“The National TVET Forum aims to provide the government and relevant stakeholders with practical ideas and solutions,” Professor Nabobo-Baba. “In 2023, we introduced a reflective approach to facilitate this objective. This year, we intend to advance this initiative by directly engaging stakeholders and government representatives and challenging them to outline their implementation strategies and timelines.”

FNU’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor TVET Dr. Isimeli Tagicakiverata aims to align TVET programs with labor market needs, addressing challenges like the skills gap, underemployment, climate resilience, and future technologies.

The event will also introduce new initiatives in Apprenticeship, Trade Testing, and Accreditation.

Set for Monday, 27 May at FNU’s Namaka Campus, the forum is open to all, including students.
