LTA-Police Beef Up Security For Coke Games

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Fiji Police Force are teaming up to ensure safety at the upcoming Fiji Finals National Championship Coca-Cola Games 2024 in Suva.

In a statement, Land Transport Authority CEO Irimaia Rokosawa said they would increase presence on roads and at the venue to enforce traffic laws and maintain order, prevent congestion, speeding, and reckless driving.

“In light of the anticipated influx of attendees, particularly from the West and other regions outside Suva, the LTA is urging travellers to plan their journeys to avoid last-minute rushes,” Roosawa said. “This proactive approach not only reduces the risk of congestion but also alleviates the pressure on drivers to engage in speeding or reckless driving behaviours, thus safeguarding the lives and safety of all road users.”

Public cooperation is encouraged, with drivers urged to use police checkpoints to report unruly behaviour.  Road safety messages will be included on event tickets.

As preparations for the Fiji Finals National Championship Coca-Cola Games 2024 enter the final stages, the LTA and Police are urging members of the public, parents, guardians and teachers to be mindful of the safety and movements of their children during the three-day event.
