Despite the challenges that came with staying the course at Law School, Sakaraia Tabuanitoga Tamanikaiqalikarua owed his elderly grandparents to finish his studies and earn it well.
Tamanikaiqalikarua acknowledged his grandparents particularly his grandmother who passed away recently.
“I am only able to pass my exams, get through law school and be admitted to the Bar of Fiji because of the tireless sacrifices that my grandparents did for me. I will never be able to repay them for loving me and supporting me the way they did. I owe them this.”
The new lawyer said there were many times that he felt like giving up on becoming a lawyer because of the struggles he faced financially.
“I took a break from studying because of the financial constraints I faced. There were many times I thought I wouldn’t make it but then I got some help and I just told myself that I needed to complete my studies for those who look up to me.”
“I also want to acknowledge my very close circle of friends back home in Labasa. These special group of people had every opportunity to leave me and unfriend me but they stayed and supported. They are very much part of the reason why I was able to get my law degree. This is for them too.”
Tamanikaiqalikarua who is originally from Namuka-i-Lau and attended All Saints Secondary School says hardwork and staying focused on your goal is essential to achieving your dreams.
“If I had lost hope and focus, if I hadn’t fought hard I wouldn’t have achieved this today. There is no substitute to hard work.” He added.
