Two Drown as Police Search On for Missing Man in Nadi Waters

Two people including a two-year-old from Koro drowned in two separate incidents this week, as search continues for a 28-year-old man believed to have been swept away by strong currents while swimming in Nadi.

The 2-year-old boy was found floating in a creek at Naqaidamu Village yesterday morning. He was taken to the Koro Health Centre where attempts to revive him proved futile.

In Lautoka, a 42-year-old man was swept away by strong currents while swimming after a drifting fiber-glass boat in Navutu waters in Lautoka on Thursday.

The search team found the victim’s body about 300meters from the dock.

Meanwhile, search continues for a man in waters off Nadi. The victim was allegedly swimming with two others when he was swept away towards open seas.

Search efforts conducted yesterday proved futile and will continue today, Police said.

Authorities are also reminding parents to ensure the wellbeing of their children particularly in the inclement weather experienced around the country.
