A 21-year-old student who drowned while swimming with family this week is believed to be the country’s first drowning victim this year.
The incident occurred at the Devodara Picnic Spot in Savusavu yesterday afternoon.
Attempts made to revive him proved futile, police said.
A post mortem will be conducted to confirm the victim’s cause of death as investigations continue.
