Fiji Elections 2022: SoE denies printer incident claims

Fiji’s Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has denied allegations that the FijiFirst Secretary General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was at the Star Printery, where ballot papers were printed for the 2022 General Elections, in the early hours of Thursday last week. The allegations were highlighted in a letter by the National Federation Party to Mr. Saneem today querying information the party had received alleging that Mr. Sayed-Khaiyum visited the printery on 1 December 2022 where he allegedly ordered that CCTV cameras at the premises be turned off, refused to leave despite being told by Fijian Elections Office officials and the police because ballot papers were still being printed. Fiji Elections 2022: GCC to train iTaukei leaders

People Alliance Party Leader Sitiveni Rabuka said the proposal to restore the Great Council of Chiefs is based on the premise that it would train itaukei traditional leaders. Fiji’s National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says the incoming government, should the administration change post-2022 General Election, will have its work cut out for them. Uncertain of the situation in the Fijian Government machinery under the governing FijiFirst party Professor Biman said it would be prudent to first determine the status quo to be able to put in place corrective measures. Head-on crash kills man as wife, son are hospitalised

Fiji's road death toll has nearly doubled when compared to the same period last year after a 35-year-old man died instantly when another vehicle collided head-on with his car in Nadi last night. Fijian police sought the assistance of National Fire Authority personnel to retrieve the deceased's body from the wreckage whilst his wife and son who were also in the vehicle with him were hospitalised.
