Pilot disaster ready project for local church

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency Fiji (ADRA Fiji) today virtually launched a Disaster Ready Pilot project with the Seventh Day Adventist Church to help church members prepare and respond to disasters. ADRA Fiji will be working closely with five identified sites in the central division to implement the one year project funded by the South Pacific Division of the SDA Church focusing on building resilience communities/church. Two killed in road accidents

Two men lost their lives and another is in hospital after two separate road accidents over the weekend, taking the country's road death toll to 14. On Saturday, a farmer in his 20s died in a two-vehicle accident in Wainikoro Road, Vanua Levu and on Sunday in Suva, a man in his 30s died after his vehicle veered off the road and hit a lamp post. COVID-19 Fiji: Engage in freedom of movement responsibly

Fiji's Ministry of Health has urged for caution ahead of the next phase of lockdown easing amid concerns for the one third of the population under 18 years who are yet to be unvaccinated and older people with comorbidities who, although have better protection with vaccination, their ability to build up vaccine immunity is not as good as younger and healthier persons. As the second dose coverage increases and a greater portion of our population become fully vaccinated against COVID-19, local and international travel restrictions and other social and workplace engagement restrictions will be gradually lifted. Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong said the public must ensure that together with vaccination, we should continue to observe our COVID safe measures and avoid contained spaces and crowds to avoid the risk of increased spread of the virus.
