Methodologies differ: Elections on Bureau of Stats’ voter count variance

Fiji's Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says that the Fijian Elections voter count differ from that kept by the Bureau of Statistics because their registration methodologies differ. Concerns were raised after FEO's registered voters' count for the 2018 elections, at 637,527, was higher than the estimated voting population provided by the bureau in their 2019/2020 Household and Income Expenditure Survey report, at 570,327. $800K-plus payout to accident victims

In a little over a month, Fiji's Accident Compensation Commission paid out more than $800,000 in compensation to victims of motor vehicle, employment and school accidents. COVID-19 Fiji: New measures for low vax area when Viti Levu borders open

Fiji is expected to open up its internal borders on Viti Levu soon upon reaching 60 per cent fully vaccinated coverage, but it comes with a request to the general populace to proceed with caution in view of unvaccinated communities in particular villages and settlements in rural areas. As of Monday, Fiji's fully vaccinated coverage stood at 59.6 per cent. Upon reaching 60 per cent, borders at Wainadoi, Logani and Sawani will be uplifted, but not without measures introduced in pockets of communities beyond these borders because of their low vaccination coverage. COVID-19 Fiji: 131 new cases and one death

Fiji announced 131 new cases and one death for the reporting period that ended at 8am yesterday, with 63 of the new cases from the western division, 66 from the central division, two from the eastern division whereas the northern division recorded another recovery.
