Macuata welcomes its 7s Olympian Maqala

A traditional ceremony of welcome was accorded to Fiji 7s Olympian Gold medallist Sireli Maqala at the chiefly residence of the Turaga na Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at Naduri. In welcoming Maqala, Ratu Wiliame said the vanua of Caumatalevu was proud that the 7s star calls Labasa home. Vaccination card a must-have for domestic travel

Domestic travellers will need to carry their vaccination cards with them when travelling as proof of their vaccination status, particularly those looking to travel to the North and the maritime islands. Responding to a question by opposition MP Dr Antonio Lalabalavu as to the checklist and documentation that travellers will need to have on them, Minister for Transport Faiyaz Koya highlighted vaccination cards as one of the most important documents. COVID-19 Fiji: Death of fourth person to have received both vaccine doses

Fiji's COVID-19 deaths exceeded 400 overnight after 11 new fatalities were recorded, among them a woman in her 70s who had received both doses of the vaccine. Of the country's 405 COVID-19 deaths, 403 occurred during the April outbreak. These exclude 223 other deaths during the outbreak but happening in a little over two months since 5 June, involving COVID-19 positive patients whose deaths have been attributed to other causes. To date, the Ministry of Health remains adamant that none of these victims was fully vaccinated including a 72-year-old woman of Tavua who died two days ago despite receiving the second dose of the vaccine.
