A high court in Lautoka has jailed for 15 years a 53-year-old man over the rape and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl with special needs, specifically diagnosed with intellectual impairment.
The victim who is related to the man became pregnant.
The incident happened in 2019 at the village hall in the village where they both reside.
In her testimony, the victim said she did not tell anyone because she was frightened of the accused.
The man has been given 30 days to appeal.
